Weglot, Langify, and Transcy all do the job — until the bill arrives or the word count runs out. Here's a simpler approach: let Claude handle your Shopify translations and save them directly to your store. No subscription per language, no word limits.
Weglot is genuinely good. So is Langify. So is Transcy. But they all share the same problem: you're paying a monthly subscription — and with Weglot, every word you translate counts against your plan. Add a new product, update a description, publish a blog post — word count goes up, bill goes up.
Merchants switch when the bill hits $100, $200, $300 a month and they realize most of that is paying for words they translated once and will never change again.
There's a simpler way to do it. Here's the workflow I use now whenever I'm adding a new language to a Shopify store.
The key difference
Apps like Weglot work by running a small piece of code on every page of your store that swaps the language on the fly. It works — but you're paying for it every month, forever, even after the translations are done.
With ShopMCP, your translations are saved directly into your Shopify store. Once they're in, they're in. No app needs to run on your pages, no word-count clock ticking in the background.
The workflow
1. Set up the new market
Create your new market in Shopify Admin → Settings → Markets, add your domain, then tell Claude to set the language:
"List my markets and set nordpine.de as German by default."
Visitors from Germany land on your .de domain in German automatically.
2. Export a clean translation CSV
"Export all my page and theme translations to a CSV — I want to see what's missing in German."
Claude builds a clean spreadsheet — headings, button labels, product descriptions, form fields. A status column shows exactly what's missing. Open it in Google Sheets and you instantly know what needs translating.
3. Translate everything in one go
"Fill in all MISSING German translations. Professional tone — we sell outdoor furniture."
Claude fills every missing field with brand-aware translations. Not generic auto-translate — it knows what you sell and keeps the tone consistent.
4. Check and approve
Scan the updated CSV. Tweak anything that doesn't sound right. You stay in control of the final result.
5. Save to Shopify
"Upload these German translations to Shopify."
Claude saves everything directly into your Shopify store. Done. No app running on your pages, no monthly word-count renewal, no bill next month because you added three products.
Is Weglot or Langify ever the better choice?
Yes — if you need translations to update automatically the moment you change content, a proxy app like Weglot catches that instantly without any extra steps. For stores that publish a lot of new content frequently across many languages, that automation is worth paying for.
But for most stores — especially those expanding into one or two new markets, or agencies setting up a new international store for a client — the ShopMCP workflow is faster to set up, costs less over time, and the translations live in Shopify permanently.
What about Langify and Transcy?
Same workflow applies. Langify is great for manual control but a lot of clicking. Transcy adds currency conversion which is useful, but its billing history in 2026 has made merchants nervous. Either way, if you want translations saved to your store without a permanent app subscription — this workflow does it.
